Earlier this month, October 1-2, 2026, Tiny Tapeout was part of the two-day IEEE Open Silicon sponsored event held in Panama City: the LACSS 2026 - the Latin America and Caribbean Semiconductor Summit

Pat Deegan led the workshop. Forty-one participants from Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Mexico, El Salvador, and Guatemala all completed their designs which are now heading to fabrication as part of the TTSKY26d shuttle.

It was such a huge success! With an average participant rating of 4.9 out of 5 ⭐️

Everybody was engaged and enthusiastic during the entire workshop. Thanks to the local volunteers, who served as TAs for the event, the workshop became an even greater experience for everyone who attended.

“The energy of Pat and his willingness to help. Also that the information is explained in a way that is easy to understand.”

“Learning how stuff actually works (and how cool open source ICs are because of this).”

“I really like how we had plenty of time to implement the guides and also make questions and receive feedback about it. However, the most cool thing was to implement the things from Verilog and ended up having the GDS and its 3D model.”

“It was a very dynamic and fun way to learn and practice on the way.”

“I liked how it covered the basics and slowly got more technical while being interactive and fun.”

“The energy from the instructor and all the topics that we saw was really really interesting, I think it was very funny and entertaining to learn.”
