Two single-day workshops at SUTD

Thanks to Vensa, a new philanthropic initiative for Open Silicon, we were invited to run two single-day Tiny Tapeout workshops on September 28, Monday, and September 30, Wednesday. It was at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).

Matt led the workshop and there were a total of 62 participants. Forty-nine of them taped out. Their designs will be part of the TTGF26d shuttle.

Here’s what some of them had to say:

“Love Matt’s enthusiasm!! Very informative introduction to microchips.”

“It’s very interactive during the hands on activities, it’s very easy to ask question.”

“I liked how we were given instructions and explanations on how to do each activity and the enthusiasm from Matt does hook me in.”

“I really appreciate that the guides were made really easy to follow without too many technical terms, and the songs were cool.”

“Engaging throughout. I liked the bits on the history and developments of the technology as well.”

“I think it’s great and manages to make IC design less intimidating and more exciting. Great way to develop interest amongst beginners.”

The ArtScience Museum Exhibition

That Friday, October 2, Matt gave a talk at the ArtScience Museum, where Tiny Tapeout also had an exhibition.

The exhibit showcases Tiny Tapeout and its goal of democratizing chip design by providing a platform where people can create, test, and manufacture their own chips.

We’ll be back!

On November 20-December 6, 2026, Pat will deliver six more workshops at the ArtScience Museum. If you’re interested, sign up here. Admission is free with registration.

Thank you to Vensa for the invitation, to the ArtScience Museum for showcasing us, and to everyone who attended!
